چکیده
Overview of review : This paper described the intercomparison results of methane profiles and its total column density between AIRS and GOSAT TANSO-FTS, the methane profiles were retrieved by thermal infrared spectral range of both instruments. The results showed the influence of Averaging Kernel through the comparison, it was found that the AK reduces the difference. The results also showed that the methane mixing ratio at 300-600hPa from AIRS and GOSAT TANSO-FTS was good correlation. The methane total column amounts at the tropics and the southern hemisphere was good agreement within 1%, however, at the midand highlatitudes in the northern hemisphere, the methane total column from GOSAT TANSO-FTS is 1-2% lower than that from AIRS due to mainly small degree of freedoms of GOSAT TANSO-FTS. Satellite observation of atmospheric methane: intercomparison between AIRS and GOSAT TANSO-FTS retrievals
Space-borne observations of atmospheric methane (CH4) have been made using the Atmospheric Infrared Sounder (AIRS) on the EOS/Aqua satellite since August 2002 and the Thermal and Near-infrared Sensor for Carbon Observation Fourier Transform Spectrometer (TANSOFTS) on the Greenhouse Gases Observing Satellite (GOSAT) since April 2009. This study compared the GOSAT TANSOFTS thermal infrared (TIR) ...
متن کاملIntercomparison of XH2O Data from the GOSAT TANSO-FTS (TIR and SWIR) and Ground-Based FTS Measurements: Impact of the Spatial Variability of XH2O on the Intercomparison
Spatial and temporal variability of atmospheric water vapor (H2O) is extremely high, and therefore it is difficult to accurately evaluate the measurement precision of H2O data by a simple comparison between the data derived from two different instruments. We determined the measurement precisions of column-averaged dry-air mole fractions of H2O (XH2O) retrieved independently from spectral radian...
متن کاملComparison of XH2O Retrieved from GOSAT Short-Wavelength Infrared Spectra with Observations from the TCCON Network
Understanding the atmospheric distribution of water (H2O) is crucial for global warming studies and climate change mitigation. In this context, reliable satellite data are extremely valuable for their global and continuous coverage, once their quality has been assessed. Short-wavelength infrared spectra are acquired by the Thermal And Near-infrared Sensor for carbon Observation-Fourier Transfor...
متن کاملOn-orbit radiometric calibration of SWIR bands of TANSO-FTS onboard GOSAT
The Greenhouse gases Observing SATellite (GOSAT) was launched on 23 January 2009 to monitor global distributions of carbon dioxide and methane. The Thermal And Near-infrared Sensor for carbon ObservationFourier Transform Spectrometer (TANSO-FTS) onboard GOSAT measures the short-wavelength infrared (SWIR) spectra. Radiometric accuracy directly influences the accuracy of the retrieved greenhouse ...
متن کاملGosat Calibration Plan
Greenhouse gases Observing SATellite (GOSAT) is a Japanese MOE/NIES/JAXA joint program to observe greenhouse gases, such as CO2 and CH4, from space. The GOSAT will be launched in 2008. The GOSAT carries a Fourier transform spectrometer and a push broom imager. The GOSAT development is going on in phase-C/D and characterized the sensor performance in laboratory. The post-launch calibration items...
